My Everyday Hair Styling Tool

Sorry, I’ve been a bit MIA. I need to be better at consistently posting on here. Work and weekend projects have been consuming my life buttttttt I have discovered the BEST hair tool for everyday use and wanted to share 🙂

Honestly, before I purchased this hair tool, whatever my hair looked like that morning is how I went to work. If it was REALLY BAD, I put it in a pony tail or bunned it (what can I say? I would rather sleep a few extra minutes before waking up at the buttcrack of dawn).

In my first professional job, my supervisor would say, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”. As I have gradually moved up the ladder over the years, this saying has etched into my brain. I must say, I LOVE my current job…but either way, dressing professional makes a huge difference.

Remember how your hair looks after getting a blowout at the salon? Trust me, I have tried using a round brush and hairdryer but am not coordinated enough or have the multitasking ability to twirl a brush and blow-dry at the same time. Answer? the John Frieda Hot Air Brush and the best part is that it’s only $25. It’s basically a two in one product that gives you the volume you want but dries at the same time.

I recommend air drying your hair until about 80% before using this tool so that you can get the level of curls/waves you want. I have tried it with completely dried hair, it still does a great job at smoothening and curling the ends. I was skeptical at first but have gotten the hang of using it and have incorporated it into my daily routine (it DOES take some level of coordination…i.e. rolling the hair back and forth but you’ll get used to it). Funny because coworkers have asked me if I recently got a hair cut…. no, it’s just my hair looks put together now that I spare a few extra minutes with this awesome tool. I am not even sponsored but have told all of my girlfriends to buy this product (and they have!).

Perfect Vacation Summer Dresses

I am in full vacay mode – countdown begins! I have a ton of dresses in the back of my closet but I never end up wearing them because I feel too “dressed up” on the weekend (which is why I end up in athlesiure wear – my favorite). Of course, instead of bringing dresses I already own, it’s a vacation which means it’s justifiable to go shopping for new clothes right?

I was at a friend’s beach wedding when I spotted another wedding guest wearing this Hibiscus Floral V-neck Backless Maxi Dress from SheIn.com (yes, I asked her where her dress was from). I loved the simplicity of the style but it was beautiful and was PERFECT for a beach wedding/summer event. I loved the floral print because it reminded me of Japanese cherry blossoms, which reminds me of my hubby (that’s another story).

Honestly, I was skeptical with this website because I don’t normally purchase from websites I’m not familiar with. Like I mentioned in previous posts, most of my wardrobe is from Nordstrom Rack.  I decided to bite the bullet and try it since the maxi was under $25.

Recommendation #1: USE the website’s measurement chart! I typically wear size M in U.S. clothes and according to this chart, I was a size XL in the pink floral and a size L in the black (CRAZY, right?!). I was hesitant but I’m really glad I followed the chart. For some reason, the black option didn’t have an XL option but honestly, the fit of the both are the same on me. As you can see in the photos, both the black and pink floral maxi dresses fit like a GLOVE.

Recommendation #2: Keep in mind that this maxi’s length is pretty long. For reference, I am 5’5″ and I still had to get this tailored for it to perfectly hit the floor (luckily, I have Nordstrom Rack alteration credit so that wasn’t an issue).

Overall: I love both and am so glad I got both the black and floral options. The black is simple but you can never go wrong with a black dress and the floral one just screams summer. I love how the style is more covered in the front but has a backless side.

Of course, it’s hard not to look around when you’re on a clothes site right? I ended up searching “palm leaf dress” and found this next dress.

Same recommendation as above, follow the measurement chart. I ordered a size L in both the white and navy blue version and it fits me well.

Overall, I love the palm leaf print because it is perfect for any tropical vacation. It’s double lined and the fabric is very nice. The maxi dress is a lightweight, chiffon like material. As you can see in the photos, the dress fit is looser/flowy.

I think I got lucky on my first order because I’m typically a picky person and rarely love everything in an order. It would be sad if I didn’t because I literally bought doubles of two styles.

2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s the best (sale) time of the yearrrr! The 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has finally commenced! Everyone who knows me knows my obsession with Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack. It’s my absolute favorite place to shop for literally everything. #jenlovesnordie

For those Nordie lovers out there, the Early Access sale for Nordstrom cardholders starts on July 13. If you aren’t a card member and want to join the club, sign up to start earning points on purchases and get access to perks (my favorite perk is the alterations credit…and best part? you get reimbursed for it). The bonus of having the card allows avid Nordie shoppers to get first dibs on the anniversary sale before it’s open to the public on July 21. Doesn’t it make you feel like a VIP customer? 🙂

Last year, I spent wayyyy too much money on the sale but it’s because the deals are amazing. Here are my TOP 10 pics from this year’s selections:

  1. Clarisonic Mia Cleansing System sale $86
If you’ve never tried the Clarisonic skincare system, GET YOURSELF ONE. It is ahhhh-mazing. I personally have sensitive skin and the sonic brush movement leaves you feeling fresh and renewed. No irritation and your face feels squeaky clean (especially after a day’s worth of makeup). I’ve had mine for over two years now and love using it a few times a week. I loved it so much I even gifted one for my mom and sister and they’ve added it to their skincare routine.
  2. Zella Hatha High Waist Crop Leggings sale$33.90–$36.90
I own these Hatha style Zella leggings. I work out multiple times a week but of course, you gotta look cute at the gym. If you look good, you feel good right? 🙂 These are standard black leggings but the fun part is on the backside. It has a mesh detail so show off those calves!
  3. Zella Live in High Wasit Leggings sale $35.90 Leggings
Three words. Perfect “athleisure” wear. I’d say these are comparable to ones from Lulus that cost double, if not triple, the price. Don’t get me wrong, I love Lulu leggings but I also love saving $. I live in these during the fall and winter time (yes, I wear leggings as pants). It’s a thick material so you don’t have to worry about sheerness and really tucks you in at all the right places.  I purchased these in black but this year there’s a nice burgundy option available.
  4.  Sigma Beauty Innovation Duo sale$35
My sister calls this my “artist paint palette” cause looks just like one. Nordstrom had a similar set last year but with an angled, contour brush. Most of my makeup brushes are by Sigma Beauty so I decided to test this out. I love it for deep cleaning my brushes.
  5. Mario Badescu Skin Care sale $32
I just purchased this last weekend after hearing my sister rave about it. For unwanted pimples, I’ll try anything that will instantly zap them overnight. I have yet to try it but I know that one Mario Badescu bottle is ~$17, so this set is a steal!
  6. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel sale $38
I’ve never tried this before but am looking for a moisturizing that can help me control my oily T-zone. It gets out of control during the summer time so I want to give this a a try – even better since you get two items for the price of one!
  7. Burberry Pensham Quilted Jacket sale $499.90
I absolutely LOVE my Burberry quilted jacket. I loved it so much I even got one for my mom and sister so we can all be matching (we’re that family, I know). It’s the perfect jacket during the fall time. This is the type of jacket that makes you look put together no matter what. Who doesn’t want that?
  8. Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge Applicator & Small Cosmetics Bag Set sale $35
Initally, I thought it was stupid to spend this much on a sponge. It’s literally just a sponge. A friend persuaded me to get it for my wedding by saying it’ll give me an “airbrushed” finish. Of course, everyone wants an airbrushed look and I didn’t want to look cakey so I bit the bullet and got it. I must say….she was right. I have to admit, the stupid sponge does work wonders…
  9. Nike Free Focus Flyknit 2 Bionic Training Shoe – Women sale $89.90
All of my gym shoes are by Nike. My favorite styles are the Flyknit and Free 5.0’s.
  10. Picnic Time Cataline Wicker Picnic Basket sale $32.90
Okay, I know this one is completely random but at the same time, it’s a cute idea right? I just asked my hubby for his opinion and he literally said, “but we don’t picnic”. My response was, “well, that’s because we don’t have a cute picnic basket for picnic date nights”.

Love my Fendi Peekaboo!

For my first post, I want to talk about my current designer handbag obsession. I’ve been growing up collecting purses since my teen years and after finding the Fendi Peekaboo, I finally feel like my collection is complete (I can already feel my sister rolling her eyes….because I say that way too often but to my defense, I’ve been using the bag ever since I got it in March).

By the time I started eyeing the Peekaboo style, I missed Fendi’s collection with the Zucca print lining (it’s the one with the original Fendi logo print). I’ve been talking about the Peekaboo style for at least two years but thought the retail prices were way too steep ($3-5k depending on style/lining/leather type/price increases etc).

Here’s how I randomly found my Peekaboo. It was definitely meant to be because I happened to be looking around on Fashionphile and saw the EXACT combination/size I wanted.  They had listed a Fendi Goatskin Zucca Peekaboo in navy blue in “excellent condition” for about half the price of retail (honestly, it sounded too good to be true). I’ve never purchased from the pre-loved market so I was a bit hesitant but my hubby told me to just try it since Fashionphile has a 100% refund policy within 30 days as long as you don’t remove their security bag tag (as they say, remove the tag, keep the bag). It also goes through their internal extensive authentication process for peace of mind.

I didn’t want to risk someone else scooping up bag so I bit the bullet and decided to get it. My sweet husband actually ended up buying it for me as an early birthday gift. It arrived in about a week or so and to my surprise, it was even BETTER than I had anticipated. Trust me, I am a verrrry picky person and want my handbags to be as close to perfect as possible. I did an unboxing with my hubby and even though the bag was from the 2014 collection, it was in spectacular condition. I was so happy with my purchase and first shopping experience from the pre-loved market.

I’ve been using the bag non-stop since I got it. I love how classy the style is (reminds some people of the Hermes Kelly). I typically gravitate towards bags with optional uses. I can hold the bag, wear the bag on the crook of my arm, or cross-body. It has two large compartments divided by a partition in the middle. Apparently, the side with the zipper is considered the “front” of the bag. The quality and craftsmanship of this bag is amazing. Honestly, I feel like it’s even better than some of my other designer bags. I also love how understated it can be because you can close the bag on both sides with the twist lock. I love it completely open though….since it’s called the PEEKaboo.

Apologies if I’m rambling in this post. Bear with me as I get used to the blog life! @stylejenerator.com
